Kick-off Puppet Show

Come Tuesday, June 29th from 6:00-7:00 pm to the Rindge Commons for a special puppet show by Lindsay and her Puppet Pals. There will also be a registration table for anyone to sign up for summer reading and a raffle of a Reading Log Journal for everyone who attends.
Read 1000 Minutes
Using Readsquared or one of our physical reading logs, you will log your time reading (or being read to) to win points and raffle tickets. Audiobooks, ebooks, graphic novels, library books, your own books, rereading books...it all counts! The goal is to reach 1000 minutes throughout the summer to complete the challenge. That's over 16 hours!!
Prizes
Each day you read for 20 minutes win you a raffle ticket! At 250 minutes or points, you get to pick out a small prize. And once you reach half way (500 points), you will win a small prize and 5 extra raffle tickets. When you've completed the 1000 minutes, you receive a completion certificate, 10 raffle tickets and a book of your choice!

Events
You can win raffle tickets by attending library events, including ongoing events like Family Storytime and Tatum Tales.
Tech Tuesdays at 2:00 PM. Come to the library on Tuesdays for a fun STEM-related activity. Join us as we build R2-D2, learn how to create sculptures with the 3D printer, and learn coding and more with our Makey-Makey invention kits.
Wednesdays: LEGO Club all day. LEGOs everywhere! Drop in anytime to build with us and try your hand at the weekly challenge to win a raffle ticket and Readsquared points. This program will continue after Summer Reading ends.
Craft Fridays: Craft Day all day. Drop in anytime (10am-5pm) to create a fun craft or recipe. August 13th will be the last Craft Friday of the summer.
WRITING WORKSHOP | August 10th, 2:00-3:00 pm
Explore creative self-expression through poetry, flash fiction, and drama. Your teacher will be published poet/writer Miss Jenny with a brief appearance by poet, novelist and librarian Catherine Zebrowski. We will meet outside in the shade behind the library. Attendees will receive a complimentary writing notebook, pen, and dictionary. One lucky participant will get a free Writers' Guide! If there is enough interest, we will start up a regular monthly Writer's Club at the library! All ages welcome.

Come hear NASA Ambassador Jim Zebrowski talk about animals with tails in the night sky as seen by many different cultures, such as the Greeks, Romans, and Native Americans.

Page Turner Adventures
Join Storyologists, Page Turner and Kenny (the Emmy-Award winning team) as they jump into the Once Upon a Time Machine in search of stories and adventure. Along the way, you’ll participate in awesome comedy shows, create fun crafts, make delicious recipes, and meet some amazing guests. It’s going to be a WILD SUMMER filled with lots of laughs, wonder, imagination, creativity, and, of course, BOOKS. Because... WHEN YOU READ, EVERY DAY IS AN ADVENTURE! This program is geared toward children in grades K-3.
Each week includes... Show Day: An original, interactive show that’s sure to engage kids. Author/ Illustrator Day: Short interviews with some of the best creators working in kid lit. Mashup Day: Recipes, games, bonus crafts, and other fun stuff. Special Guest/Field Trip Day: visit virtually some amazing places and people including mini-shows from other fantastic performers. Craft Day: Simple, fun crafts that inspire creativity. Come to the library to make the craft of the week on Fridays (materials available all day in the children's room) or bring it home. |
