Library Assistant (Part-Time)
14 hours per week, non-benefited, permanent position
Starting Salary $10.00-$12-00 per hour

Set schedule: Monday 10:00 – 5:00 p.m. and Friday 10:00 - 5:00 p.m. Additional hours may be required for training.

- Ability to utilize automated circulation system and to execute circulation policies and procedures
- Computer skills
- Ability to deal with multiple tasks and give friendly, respectful, helpful service to library users of all ages
- Helping patrons locate library materials
- Assisting patrons with digital media
- Checking in/out library materials
- Shelving materials
- Registering new patrons
- Computer assistance and troubleshooting
- Collection maintenance tasks
- High school/GED required, some college coursework preferred
- Library experience preferred
- Reliability
- Exemplary customer service skills
- Ability to troubleshoot computer hardware, software and office machinery.
- Sound judgment, initiative, tact and courtesy, attention to detail
- Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with the public of all age levels, abilities, and backgrounds using written and oral communications
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with patrons, staff and the Board of Trustees.
- Available to work position’s set schedule.
- Ability to lift boxes and books and push book carts weighing upwards of 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, sit, bend, and reach
- Sense of humor
