Library Assistant (Part-Time)
17 hours per week, non-benefitted, permanent position
Starting Salary $12.50 - $13.00 per hour
Position does include paid vacation, holidays and sick time.
This position requires:
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing, verbally, and electronically
- Ability to utilize automated circulation system and to execute circulation policies and procedures
- Ability to deal with multiple tasks and give friendly, respectful, helpful service to library users of all ages
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Helping patrons locate library materials
- Assisting patrons with digital media
- Checking in/out library materials
- Shelving materials
- Registering new patrons
- Computer assistance and troubleshooting
- Collection maintenance tasks
Qualifications:
- High school/GED required, some college coursework preferred
- Library experience preferred
- Reliability
- Exemplary customer service skills
- Computer literacy expected including but not limited to MS Office, NH Overdrive, and internet applications.
- Ability to troubleshoot computer hardware, software and office machinery.
- Sound judgment, initiative, tact and courtesy, attention to detail
- Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with the public of all age levels, abilities, and backgrounds using written and oral communications
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with patrons, staff and the Board of Trustees.
- Available to work position’s set schedule.
- Ability to lift boxes and books and push book carts weighing upwards of 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, sit, bend, and reach
- Sense of humor
Other:
The candidate will submit to a NH State Police CHRI background check.
Set schedule: Tuesday 1:00 – 8:00 p.m, Thursday 1:00 - 8:00 p.m. Saturday 9 – 12.
Additional hours may be required for training.
Other hours may be available on an as-needed basis.
