Trustee Meeting
June 23, 2020
Trustees present: Karla Macleod, Roberta Gordenstein, Flo Marsh, Linda Dodge
Director: Donna Straitiff
Acceptance of donations: Flo accepted, Roberta seconded
Secretary’s report from February meeting accepted with the additional phrasing to show state approval of Zoom meeting: Roberta accepted, Flo seconded
Town Bookkeepers Reports: None available
Treasurer’s Report: Linda accepted, Roberta seconded
Director’s Report: Linda accepted, Roberta seconded
Installation of new technology has not proceeded, due to slow response of contractor, Spaulding Hill.
Donna gave an update on the summer reading program: 18 adults, 28 children and 5 teens have signed up to date. Some prizes will be purchased from the programming budget, which cannot be fully utilized at this time.
Donna proposed a COVID-19 Safety Policy and a Families First Coronavirus Response Act Policy: Flo accepted, Linda seconded
Donna had questions regarding patron behavior during the phased reopening and the board agreed that action resulting from any disregarding of safety rules is at the Director’s discretion. The library should look to the town Safety Committee for direction on any further necessary shut downs.
Donna reported that the library continues to offer curbside service for patrons who are uncomfortable coming into the building at this time. In addition, she will offer before-opening appointments for these patrons.
Roberta reported that the 1894 Committee has met and elected new officers. They are focused on the purchase of new shelving for the library. Donna is awaiting a quote from the state prison on the construction.
Friends of the Ingalls Memorial Library: Donna reported that they have not been meeting during the pandemic.
Karla thanked Donna for all of the extra work that she has been performing during the pandemic.
Flo moved that the meeting be closed at 5:44 Pm; Roberta seconded.
